Alpine Holiday Table Set-FREE CROCHET PATTERN

Alpine Holiday Table Set-FREE PATTERN

Alpine Holiday Set smaller.jpg

Some time ago I was a guest designer on a blog. It was a pattern for an Easter table set (placemats and coasters) and I loved it so much I wanted to make an Xmas version of it. Basically same pattern just a Christmas inspired colors. The Easter one was a huge success according to the feedback and visits it got so why not use it to make something for the upcoming holidays?

Below you can see the newest versions…

Pattern below is posted in a basic version but you can purchase the PDF-Ad free version with the photo tutorial in my Ravelry or Etsy shops for a very low price. I would appreciate your support as the price is lower than a price of coffee in most countries.

Important

Level: Intermediate
Gauge: 12 st x 8 rows (4×4 inches)

The pattern is made in round, every row is joined by slip stitch. This will not be counted as stitch.

Sizing: Measurements (after blocking) for coasters are 11×11 cm (~4.25inches) and for the placemat 38×38cm (~15 inches). The measurements can be adjusted to bigger sizes if last few rows are repeated.

The beginning set of sc + ch2 in every row will be counted as starting stitch.

Abbreviations

In US terms

MC- magic circle
Ch- chain
Sc- single crochet
Hdc- half double crochet
Sl st-slip stitch, always into the first st in row
Sp-space or bridge made out of multiple ch’s between stitches
FP dc- front post double crochet
BLO hdc- back loop half double crochet
Sc2inc- 2 single crochet in the same stitch (increase)
Sk st- skip stitch

Repeations:

There will be two types of repetition:

*…*, main repetition. Make sure that you know where it starts and where it ends.
(…) x times, this will be used when there is a repetition within *..* repetition.

Using *..* and **..** to distinguish them I find a little confusing. So I decided to use two different types.

COASTER Pattern

Round 1
*hdc3, dc3* in MC, repeat between * and * 3 more times, sl st (24st)

Try to visualize/locate which stitches are hdc and which dc as this will help in the next two rounds. Mark beginning of the round 1 with a stitch marker)

Round 2
The start will be in the second hdc from round 1. Sc across next 3 st, *Sc2Inc (2sc in the second dc from round 1), sc across next 5 st*, repeat between * and * 2 more times, Sc2Inc, sc across 2 st, sl st to join. (28st)

Change color

Round 3
FPdc around the 3rd hdc from the start of the 1st round, sk st (whenever you do FPdc you skip a st from previous round), sc across next 4 st (by now you skipped the 3 dc’s from the round 1), *FPdc around the 1st hdc after three dc’s from round 1 (6th st from start of round 1), sk st, sc in the next st, FPdc around the 3rd hdc from round 1 (8th st from round 1), sk st, sc across next 4 st* repeat between * and * 2 more times, FPdc around hdc from round 1, sk st, sc in the last st, sl st to join. (28st)

Round 4

Sc in the first st (which is the first sc out of the 4 sc’s from round 3), *Sc2Inc in the next 2 sc from previous round, sc across next 5 st* repeat between * and * 2 more times, Sc2Inc across next 2 sc from previous round, sc across next 4st, sl st to join. (36st)

Change color

Round 5
FPdc around the first sc after the FPdc from round 3, sk st, sc in next sc, *[sc, hdc] in next sc, [hdc, sc] in next sc, (sc in sc, FPdc around the sc from round 3) 3 times, sc in next sc*, repeat between * and * 2 more times, [sc, hdc] in next sc, [hdc, sc] in next sc, (sc in sc, FPdc around the sc from round 3) 2 times, sc in last st, sl st to join. (44st)

You can repeat another round with two extra FPdc’s on each of the 4 sides If you want the coaster to be bigger or you’re using a thinner yarn.
